On Friday 10 June 2005 at 8PM, Richard Ayres’ new opera The cricket recovers (2005) was premiered at the 58th Aldeburgh Festival, Snape Maltings Concert Hall, Aldeburgh, UK. The libretto was written by Rozalie Hirs based on the eponymous novella by Toon Tellegen. The libretto was translated into English by John Irons.
