On 19 October 2017 as part of the Entrée Late Night, soloists of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra perform parallel world [breathing] (2017) by Rozalie Hirs, scored for flute, clarinet, percussion, 2 harps, violin, viola, cello, and electronic sounds. The new work is a co-commission of Concertgebouw Orchestra and the University of Amsterdam with financial support of the Netherlands Performing Arts Fund.
The concert takes place at 22:15 CET at the Koorzaal as part of Entrée Late Night and is free of admission. The soloists of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, who perform the work, are Emily Beynon (flute), Hein Wiedijk (clarinet), Petra van der Heide (harp), Sandrine Chatron (harp), Mark Braafhart (percussion), Marijn Mijnders (violin), Frederik Boits (viola), Honorine Schaeffer (cello). Conductor: Alexander de Blaeij. The score of parallel world [breathing] (2017) by Rozalie Hirs is published by Deuss Music, The Hague, The Netherlands.
Earlier that evening the programme Multiversum features orchestral works by Ligeti, Vivier, and Eötvös, as well as lectures on cosmology and theoretical physics.
