On Monday, 2 March 2026, from 19:00 to 19:45 CET, Rozalie Hirs presents a lecture on her music during the Young Composers’ Meeting, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. Various compositional ideas and her recent albums Infinity Stairs (2025) and Rosehart (2025) are discussed. The above photo shows the dress rehearsal of Hirs’ orchestral work bron (2023), performed by Elena Schwarz (conductor) and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, on 16 December 2023.
The annual YCM is an initiative of Orkest De Ereprijs. Fourteen young professional composers aged 30 and under are given the opportunity to work on their own compositions, thereby developing their talents, expanding their knowledge, and building their network. During this week, the participants rehearse the work they have been working on for the YCM. They are supervised by experienced composers and attend lectures and individual lessons. The intensive week concludes with a concert. The most promising participants, as judged by an independent jury of leading composers, are awarded a paid composition commission as encouragement. The compositions will be performed by Orkest De Ereprijs and singers in training at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague during the Closing Concert at Theater Gigant in Apeldoorn. The 33rd edition takes place from March 1-6, 2026.
