On Sunday 14 September 2025 at 23:00 CET, Anne-Maartje Lemereis (pictured above, photo by Wouter Vellekoop) hosts a new edition of VPRO Vrije Geluiden on NPO Klassiek (Radio 4). This episode features, among other highlights, the portrait album Infinity Stairs (2025) by Rozalie Hirs. More details to follow. Since November 23, 2024, Vrije Geluiden on NPO Klassiek has been hosted by Anne-Maartje Lemereis, who succeeded Aad van Nieuwkerk.
“It’s a real privilege to present Vrije Geluiden on NPO Klassiek,” says Anne-Maartje. “I’ve always loved listening to the program myself and discovered a lot of new music through it. As a composer, I’m deeply rooted in contemporary Dutch music, and it feels like a luxury to be able to give it a voice. Apart from making music, my favorite thing is talking about music, so I’m truly excited to share wonderful sounds, stories, and conversations during the final hour of the weekend on NPO Klassiek!”

Anne-Maartje Lemereis (b. 1989) composed her first song at the age of four and has never stopped since. She studied composition at the Utrecht Conservatory, where she now teaches and mentors students. Alongside her teaching, she is active as a composer, writing commissions for musicians, ensembles, concert halls, and festivals. She also enjoys working with amateur musicians and educational institutions. Anne-Maartje has a great passion for new music and is committed to bringing it to a wider audience. In 2024 and 2025, she also serves as the Composer Laureate of the Netherlands.
