On 18 January 2014, a portrait concert of the composer Katharina Rosenberger takes place at Südpol, Lucerne, Switzerland. The programme consists of pieces from her recent CD textures (Zurich: Hat [now] ART, 2012) performed by Wet Ink, New York. For the Interludes on this CD, Rozalie Hirs wrote the cycle of poems “Fern” [1-5] (2011), which later appeared as the Dutch cycle ‘varens’ [1-4] in her poetry book verdere bijzonderheden (Amsterdam: Querido, 2017). The poems are inspired by botanical research on ferns by Michael Sundue. Rosenberger incorporated the poems into new electroacoustic music compositions. Soprano Kate Soper performs the pieces together with the New York-based ensemble Wet Ink.
