On 4 September 2016 from 11:00-17:15, as part of the Gaudeamus Muziekweek Academy, Rozalie Hirs teaches a one day workshop on OpenMusic (IRCAM). This is a workshop for composers who would like to get acquainted with OpenMusic and explore its possibilities towards the compositional process. Together we install the software and the OMTristan library on your laptops, and take the first steps towards building patches and performing musical calculations. We also look into some examples of how these calculations can turn into musical scores and data for sound synthesis.

The course is based on Hirs’s two articles from Contemporary Compositional Techniques and OpenMusic, a book she co-edited with the late Bob Gilmore in 2009.
