1 November 2025. Come sempre (2025) by Rozalie Hirs is a new duo for soprano and coloratura, commissioned by Susan Narucki. Its musical material formed the basis for the virtuosic vocalises abbandonati études (2025).
The text is the first poem selected from Hirs’ eighth poetry collection, ecologica (Rotterdam: Uitgeverij Vleugels, 2023). The poem was translated into Italian by Patrizia Filia for inclusion in the Italian edition of ecologica (Catania, Italy: Nous Editrice, 2026).
The endangered species featured in the poem is the Siberian crane, also known as the snow crane (see photo above by A Dim Light Chaser, taken at Poyang Lake, China, December 2023).
