From 11 to 14 October 2006, the Zebra Poetry Film Festival takes place in Berlin, Germany. Among many other poetry films, the festival will also feature the short animation film a throwaway coincidence that determined everything (2004) by Paul Leyton (film, animation) and Rozalie Hirs (poetry, voice, composition). The film was made in 2004 during the Internationale Sommerakademie, Rüdersdorf, at the invitation of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin. During the same year, Hirs and Leyton were artist-in-residence at the Akademie der Künste as Stipendiat der Jungen Akademie. The above picture shows the protagonist of Leyton’s animation film, the little thistle.
