On 3 February 2020 at 14:00 CET Museum Drachten presents a lecture on the the architectural sound art installation Ways of Space (2019) by Rozalie Hirs (music) and Machiel Spaan (design), which is currently exhibited at Van Doesburg-Rinsemahuis, Museum Drachten, The Netherlands. After the lecture, the makers along with their audience walk over to the installation for a collective listening experience.
Machiel Spaan (architect) and Rozalie Hirs (composer) developed the architectural sound sculpture Ways of Space (2019) in close collaboration during their artist-in-residence at Maison Van Doesburg, Meudon Hauts-de-Seine (Paris), France. It is the third collaborative architecture/sound art project by Spaan and Hirs, after Curvices (2013-present), and the Listening House (2017-present). The work and residency were supported by Mondriaanfonds, Maison Theo Van Doesburg, and Stimuleringsfonds voor de Creatieve Industrie. The exhibition is part of the show Bauhaus and Drachten.
