article 10 [prismes] (2021) by Rozalie Hirs is a new composition for cello solo, commissioned by Radio France for Festival Présences 2022. The composition is dedicated to the French cellist Marie Ythier, who performs its world premiere on 13 February 2022 at Maison de la Radio, Paris, France.

programme notes

article 10 [prismes] (2021) is a spectral investigation along a handful of tonalities, along diffractions of tones and chords into their constituent partials, as if colored melodies of light evolve through prisms. Beams and ripples that bend and deviate into harmonies, atmospheres.
article 10 [prismes] (2021) is the tenth episode in Rozalie Hirs’ series of articles for solo instruments. The new work, commissioned by Radio France, is dedicated to its first performer Marie Ythier.
