On 25 October 2014 during the Transit Festival (Festival van Vlaanderen) Bozzini Quartet will present the world premiere of Nadir for string quartet and electronic sounds (2014) by Rozalie Hirs. In 2011 and 2012 the exquisite Bozzini Quartet, based in Montréal, toured Hirs’s first string quartet Zenit (2010) in Canada, The Netherlands, and Switzerland. The new work is scored for two violins, viola, cello, and electronic sounds. The sounds are synthesized from sinetones through additive synthesis. The other pieces on the programme are a new work by Frederik Neyrinck and Euler Lattice Spirals Scenery by Marc Sabat. (photograph: Michael Slobodian)
With special thanks to Casper Schipper for assistance with the sound synthesis in SuperCollider and to Arne Bock for the sound projection in the hall.
Nadir (2014) was commissioned by Bozzini Quartet and November Music, with financial support from the Netherlands Performing Arts Fund.
