In mid-2025, Anja Utler’s installation if I can only say how_there may be a delicate home will be on display at Museum Morsbroich, Leverkusen, Germany. The installation includes verses from selected fellow poets, including Rozalie Hirs. More information will be available in early 2025.
The installation if I can only say how_ _there may be a delicate home, conceived by Anja Utler (concept, design, curation), engages visitors through acoustic, tactile, and visual experiences. At its core is a collection of poetic voices presented visually: verses are projected onto the walls, arranged in a random sequence generated by a computer program. This dynamic projection is drawn from a collection of verses by a diverse group of poets, expanding over time as visitors are invited to contribute their own linguistic expressions through a multilingual interface. The installation is designed to prioritize individual experience; each visitor has the space entirely to themselves for 20-25 minutes, fostering a personal interaction free from observation or interruption.
Since its founding in 1951, Morsbroich has held a unique place as Germany’s first museum for contemporary art established after World War II. From its inception, the museum has been dedicated to exploring contemporary art’s potential to inspire, challenge, and provoke meaningful reflections within society. A redesign process launched in 2022 addresses the question of current relevance: “How can we transform a museum for contemporary art into a museum that speaks to the present?”
