28 April 2018 Today a fine review of Wiek Hijmans’ latest CD Electric Language (Amsterdam: Attacca Productions) appeared on Opus Klassiek.
Siebe Riedstra says, among other things:
“Listening to a CD like this is a musical voyage of discovery that can produce memorable moments. Such a moment is article 6 [waves] by Rozalie Hirs (1965), who goes through life both as a poet and a composer. On Ladder 11, on which Fie Schouten plays the bass clarinet, the same thing happened – there article 7 continued to haunt the ear. Music with a pronounced tendency toward contemplation that doesn’t lull you to sleep for a change.”
