30 December 2017. A fine review by Dieuwertje Mertens of verdere bijzonderheden (2017) appeared today in Parool: Choose your freedom – and do it now.
Mertens says, among other things, about Hirs and the new poetry collection: “She gives the reader a lot of autonomy, within the structures she has created” and “What makes her poetry surprising and good are the contradictions: in a directive manner, she names freedoms, despite the fleeting tone, and has an eye for detail. She combines formal language with intimate matters.”
